Residents of Mikindani who commute to town and back
understand what time of hustle it may be at times.
Normally at speeds of 60-70km/h, the stretch from Mikindani
to Mwembe Tayari and Verse Versa should take
one 20-25minutes ,but commuters have been forced to endure hours in the
public services just to make it back
home after along day of the sweat and hard work .Having to also spare three of four times the regular fare.
Which is always fifty shillings
On that note I can comfortably say that the matatu business
is not bad all. I mean if you have ever visited that area around yukay right
next to Nawal right about 6;00 O on week days you can cocur commuters both old
and struggling to get into random matatus no matter the price the conductor
shouts.
Considerably the giants in the business including dangerous
Gucci risk dust and a few other modified in order to make that stressful
journey home at least entertaining and also worth the fare the passengers give.
By adding flat screens and crazy music systems, travelling
was never the same again And others even going the extra miles of equipping the
vehicles with Wi-Fi and sockets to charge phones. It was even getting interesting
in the traffic jams because people hardly noticed then the vehicles was
stationery. People were either surfing in their fully charge, smartphones or
enjoying a movie on the screen or the music.
Remember when a matatu was just a plain pile of metal with
wheels and seats, silent and nothing interesting about it…? well brace
yourselves people. Hats exactly where are heading.
I don’t know if I am the only one on this age but I strongly
feel like the NTSA is really determine to kill this matatu industry because
each dawn of everyday there is a new crack of matatu forcing some to remain in
the parking while the few that robbed in the police stations. If its not music
then its screens or the type of seats they bear or the wheels. But there is the
most bizar and abscar of all. What does the graphic and art on matatu has to do
with the safety of the road rule?i mean we see the buses all over the town with
big and capital letters , they have drawings of lions elephants and Christmas
trees why is there not a crackdown on them? While they use the same roads and
don’t even talk on their more sophisticated chair. I am ont an activist or
anything but I feel like the NTSA is looking for a new way of demoting the
matatu industry but again, what do I know? Leave it to the professionals.
Big up to the best matatus in mikindani_dangerous Dust
lakers Risk Tog gear and Gucci who no matter when all those crackdown happen
then still stand and give three passengers the best rides and entertainment all
along with the best ever drivers and conductors who manages to evade all the
unplanned jams and traffics.
God understood that not everyone can afford luxuries like
cars matatus screens sounds Wi-Fi music system and comfortable coaches and
that’s what HE gives the MATATUS.
